Including new functionality for planning the enterprise operating model
Cambridge, MA - January 16, 2012 - alfabet, a leading provider of strategic IT planning and business IT management solutions, today announced Release 7.1 of planningIT. This new release demonstrates alfabet's commitment to ensuring IT powers business success by introducing new functionalities to reflect the maturation of the Enterprise Architecture discipline to one concerned with planning the broader enterprise operating model.
“We are pleased to see that the new release of planningIT delivers upon our vision of Business IT Management," said Erik Masing, CEO and co-founder of alfabet. “planningIT 7.1 expands IT master planning into the realms of planning the enterprise operating model and as such helps establish a better set of guidelines for business transformation, enterprise agility, and operational efficiency."
The operating model illustrates the relationships between operating units and business partners. It provides direction for transforming business processes and how they are executed by IT solutions, internal or external shared services providers, or the operating units themselves. Planning can now include non-IT business support resources in order to describe and plan the operating model. The ability to work at this level of planning enables enterprises to respond more adequately through the effective integration and standardization of processes and resources across the enterprise.
Some other highlights of planningIT Release 7.1 include:
- Cube-based Reporting for Business Analytics leverages Microsoft® SQL Server® Analysis Services to deliver comprehensive and versatile information analytics for enterprise planning. Information from planningIT and other sources are synthesized into data cubes for multi-dimensional, interactive data analysis.
- Business Support Appraisals provide further support for risk and maturity assessment. They effectively enable the evaluation of current and future needed support for business processes from the point of view of the organizations accountable for the business processes. Importance of support for the individual business processes is taken into account and Need of Action indicators are derived accordingly.
- TOGAF-consistent Functional Architecture Planning introduces Solution Building Blocks for greater precision in target architecture planning. Solution planners now have a more granular and flexible means of defining different delivery modes of a business service, translating into best-matching implementations in an application, component, or standard platform.
alfabet has been recognized by industry analysts for its innovation in maturing its product offering. "Release after release, alfabet continues to have the best vision for the upcoming features to complete its existing portfolio of IT management tools.” (The Forrester Wave™:
