UK-Based Interest Group for Enterprise Architecture Professionals - Next Meeting, 2nd September
The opportunity to interact with peers in an informal relaxed atmosphere and discuss current EA topics and provide ideas for what you would like to see included in future meetings.
The intention of the Interest Group is to provide a well-administrated platform for the UK-based EA community to meet and connect with other EA professionals from the full spectrum of industry sectors.
Whilst there has always been great interest in participating in EA interest groups within the EA community, the ongoing organisational overhead can prove a headache for the well-intentioned individuals that form the groups, which often fizzle out. So, alfabet has taken up the task and is very happy to act simply as a benevolent facilitator and help the formation and ongoing coordination of the group.
What will the Interest Group provide?
- A Blog – Beyond Enterprise Architecture www.beyondea.com ( Please note, the Blog will have a secure facility for members to communicate privately )
- Quarterly meetings followed by dinner.
- Guest speakers on hot current EA topics.
- What else is hot? Also, guest speakers from leading technology vendors and providers
- Expand your network of EA professionals in an interesting, informative and enjoyable environment.
The inaugural meeting held May 20th was a resounding success. Here's what others had to say:
"Perhaps what helped most was that these were all senior-level practitioners of EA: no consultants, no academics, just people putting ideas into practice every day at a very high level within their organisations. And although most were still linked to IT in some way, these weren't solely the usual information-centric industries - banks, insurance, finance, tax - that typify the usual 'EA' discussions: instead, we also had retail, manufacturing, mining, pharma, telecoms and a whole slew of others, which created a much richer awareness of what 'the architecture of the enterprise' really needs to cover..."
"a key part of what made the event so successful was in what they ( alfabet ) deliberately did not do. There was no sales-pitch, no dominating Powerpoints, no "we are the best blah-di-blah-di-blah", in fact not even a brochure in sight. What they did do instead was provide an excellent space and context for the gathering, explain the background to the meeting, their opinion that an interest-group be would be a good idea for the EA profession as a whole - and then carefully got out of the way. Very unusual behavior for a vendor - and absolutely brilliant, because it was exactly what was needed to make this work..." Tom Graves
